Welcome to Dishing Out Health! So thrilled you found me here in my favorite corner of the internet. My name is Jamie & I am a Registered Dietitian, foodie, & health and fitness enthusiast.
I started Dishing Out Health in hopes of sharing my passion for nutrition, cooking and all-things health. If I could simply inspire one person to get creative in the kitchen and prove that eating healthy is anything but boring and unsatisfying, I’d be thrilled. Taste and nutrition CAN happily coexist and I hope to prove that with my recipes. Dishing Out Health offers nutritious, tasty recipes that are simple to prepare, tips and tricks for optimizing your health and all things in-between.
I’m a born & raised Florida girl currently living in Tampa with my boyfriend, Adam (otherwise known as my live-in dishwasher), and sweet little puppy, Winston. I completed both my undergraduate Dietetics Degree and graduate Clinical Nutrition Degree at Florida State University (Go Noles!). As much as I love the clinical aspect of nutrition, I have always been equally passionate about the culinary side.
As a self-proclaimed major foodie, I find few things more satisfying than getting creative in the kitchen and experimenting with new food and flavors. I’m always trying to adapt recipes into *healthified* versions and come up with new satisfying creations.
Outside of making colossal messes in the kitchen, my hobbies include spending way too much time in Home Goods, hanging with my family, checking out new restaurants and local breweries, all types of exercise/training and yoga.
I like to enjoy all foods in moderation, however you can easily search for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan/vegetarian, and paleo recipes on the blog depending on what your preferences or health needs are.
Contrary to popular belief, dietitians do not have perfect diets and we are certainly not the food police. Honestly, a lot of us got into this profession because we LOVE food ourselves! Proper nutrition is so fundamental for optimal health, however maintaining a healthy balance is key. Translation: you’ll rarely see me pass on a few bites of dessert.
